He has designed looks for the likes of Jay-Z and Beyonce. He was named in Essence magazine as on of the TOP 20 influential designers in the Art and Sneaker Community you should know. I had the opportunity to interview Alexander-John, about his new and exciting role as Creative Director of LA Gear. We talked about his inspiration behind the new capsule for LA GEAR, Light the Way. What was really DOPE to me is that his FIRST designs for LA GEAR were inspired by women; his 6 sisters actually. We all know that in the Sneaker Industry and Athletic world women are often overlooked. "The debut collection for LA Gear aims to challenge the male-dominated sneaker culture to let individuals shine no matter what adversities they face", Alexander John. One of the things that was super inspirational to me-I asked Alexander-John where does he see himself in 10 years-he said he would love to create a space that is open for creatives to be themselves and share their amazing designs.
I wish Alexander John continued success and I can't wait to see what he has in store for LA Gear in the future. He is a blessing to everyone he touches.
